I strongly believe that children are first, last and always, our number one priority and the future of our community. I was fortunate enough to grow up in Bastrop and witnessed firsthand the impact teachers can make on a student’s life. Therefore it was a natural choice to volunteer my time with the Foundation as a way to give back to the most important profession in the world…the teachers!

I joined BEF because I am passionate about supporting Bastrop ISD in every way possible. The Bastrop Education Foundation supports our school district and its staff in so many ways, and I am glad to be able to give back to the school district that I attended from Kindergarten to Graduation.

As a new mother to an energetic two-year-old, I have a personal passion for supporting the future of the Bastrop Independent School District. I’m highly motivated and deeply committed to helping children in our community succeed, because I believe a strong foundation in education is key to creating opportunities for all students.

As a long-time Bastrop Resident, I’ve always wanted to be a part of an organization that gives back to the community. When I was asked to join the board for the Bastrop Education Foundation, I leaped at the opportunity. I have 5 children: 1 BISD Graduate & three others enrolled across BISD.

I joined BEF because, as a parent to three children enrolled in BISD schools, I want to not only see my own children succeed, but also help all children in our district find success. I also feel this is a great opportunity to give back to all the educators that pour so much of their love, time, and energy into our district’s students.

I come from a long line of educators, with my parents and members of my extended family having served as classroom teachers and administrators. I am the proud wife of 33 years to my husband, Stephen, and the mother of two boys, Mitchell (27) and Michael (25), and a recent grandmother with the arrival of our granddaughter, Stevie.

After recently moving to the area, I joined the education foundation to give back to the community I'm now a part of, support the educators who shape our future, and help create meaningful opportunities for the kids growing up here. I'm passionate about empowering students and believe that access to strong educational support can truly change lives.

I was born and raised in Bastrop and attended Bastrop ISD schools for the entirety of my K-12 education. Being able to give back to the schools and teachers that gave so much to me throughout the years is one of the reasons I joined the Bastrop Education Foundation. I want to ensure that my future children, as well as the children in our community, receive the best education possible.

We moved to Bastrop last year with my husband and have 2 daughters who are both enrolled BISD. We fell in love with the community and I wanted to be a part and help increase educational opportunities not just for my children but for future generations.
