SUPPORTING THE STUDENTS, TEACHERS AND STAFF
OF BASTROP ISD
What is the Bastrop Education Foundation?
The Bastrop Education Foundation is a local, grassroots, philanthropic organization committed to improving education and educational opportunities throughout our community.
That commitment is expressed in two major ways:
Awarding grants to district educators for new teaching strategies, innovative ideas, and other initiatives to enhance instruction and educational opportunities AND
Recognizing exemplary students and educators.
Instructional Initiatives Program
Since our inception, the Foundation has awarded 315 grants, totaling $1,450,000. The grants demonstrate a tremendous wellspring of teacher talent, creativity, commitment, and initiative. The scope of the grants varies widely: affecting individual classroom, a full grade level, multiple campuses, or the entire district.
These programs are entirely supported by the donations of individuals and businesses interested in improving the educational experiences of Bastrop ISD students, teachers and staff.
Student and Staff Recognition
The second initiative centers on recognizing student excellence while concurrently recognizing those educators whose example, support, and guidance provides a glimpse of the lifelong power of the student/teacher relationship. Over the years the Foundation has honored hundreds of Bastrop ISD High School students who have been nominated by their teachers as exemplary, based upon the students’ academic performance, personal attributes and participation in community service and extracurricular activities. The Foundation also recognizes those educators singled out by these students as having made a significant difference in their lives.
